In response to escalating security threats, a dusk-to-dawn curfew has been imposed on Bakassi and Akpabuyo Local Government Areas of Cross River State. The announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Anthony Owan-Enoh, earlier today.
Governor Bassey Otu took this decisive action to ensure the safety of lives and prevent the potential breakdown of law and order in these areas. Effective from Monday, July 3, 2023, a curfew will be enforced from 7 pm to 6 am daily.
During the designated curfew hours, the movement of people and vehicles will be restricted, and residents are urged to comply with the directives for their own safety and the overall well-being of the community.
The decision to implement the curfew comes in the wake of escalating security concerns in Bakassi and Akpabuyo local government areas. While specific details about the nature of the threats were not provided, the state government is taking proactive measures to address the situation and maintain peace and stability in the region.
