A Grade ‘A’ Customary Court in Ibadan ordered the remand of 42-year-old Afeez Mudashiru to the Agodi correctional facility on Thursday after he pleaded guilty to stealing phones.
Mudashiru, whose address was not provided, faces a three-count charge. He pleaded guilty to the first two charges but not guilty to the third.
Prosecutor Philip Amusan informed the court that Mudashiru committed the offences in 2022 and June 2023 in the Dugbe area of Ibadan.
Amusan stated that Mudashiru stole a phone worth N145,000 from Lateef Sikiru and another phone worth N120,000 from Abiodun Olaoye, both without their consent.
The prosecutor further stated that the defendant, on May 15, 2023, equally stole one Infinix phone worth N260,000, property of one Abdul Qudus.
The offences, according to him, contravene Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
President of the court, Moji Aworemi, remanded the defendant after he had pleaded guilty to the first two count charges.
Aworemi granted him a bail in the sum of N250,000, with two reliable sureties in like sum, on the third count charge.
She, thereafter, adjourned the case till June 6 for review of facts.
