Corps Members to Receive N77,000 Monthly Allowance Soon – DG

By Our Correspondent

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has revealed plans to raise the monthly stipend for corps members from N33,000 to N77,000.

Brig. Gen. Yushau Ahmed Dogara, the scheme’s Director General, confirmed this during a visit to the Kaduna orientation camp.

He explained that the allowance increase is awaiting completion of financial processes before implementation.

Dogara reaffirmed the scheme’s strict stance on protests and misconduct, citing recent instances where corps members faced disciplinary actions for violating regulations.

He reminded participants of the consequences outlined in the NYSC bylaws and urged them to comply with the rules.

The DG also expressed concern about the dangers of night travel, which has resulted in accidents and kidnappings.

He urged corps members to prioritize their safety by avoiding such journeys, noting that the scheme prioritizes the security and welfare of all participants.
