Convention: PDP Screens Aspirants As Governors Meet After Failure Of Consensus Arrangement

Governors, who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will meet today ahead of the October 30 and 31 National Convention of the party.

Daily Trust learnt that the meeting of the governors operating under the auspices of PDP Governors’ Forum would focus on the issues that arose after the NWC offices had been micro-zoned at various geo-political zones.

At present, aggrieved aspirants from South West, South East, and North East are preparing to slug it out at the convention for the positions of Deputy National Chairman, South, Deputy National Chairman, North, and National Secretary respectively after the failure of the processes of micro-zoning and consensus arrangements.

Meanwhile, the screening of aspirants for various national offices of the PDP holds today after the submission of duly completed forms ended yesterday.

The Chairman of the Electoral Sub-Committee and the 279-member National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC) Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State is expected to speak before the commencement of screening alongside the Chairman of Screening Committee, Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN.

The Screening Appeals Committee led by Senator Ike Ekweremadu to consider appeals arising from the screening exercise, is scheduled to hold its meeting on Saturday, October 23, 2021.
