“Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths”.
“But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.”
“Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.” (Matthew 5:33-36).
Above verse of the bible is very clear and explanatory. Many Christians do not know that sin is sin. The same God that ask us not to commit adultery also commanded us not to swear at all for any reason.
Just like an adulteress /adulterers are both guilty of committing sin against God and won’t make Heaven if such sin is not forgiven; so also anyone guilty of swearing in any form cannot make Heaven. There is nothing like little sin or Heavy sin.
God will judge every sinners for one sin or the other without selecting sinners base on the gravity of their sin.
In the course of ordinary argument, some people will beat their head and swear; while some will beat their chest and swear, not knowing the implications of what they are doing.
This sin is very common in Africa and it leads to hell if you don’t repent today. All God’s commandments are to be obeyed. You can’t select which commandments to obey or not to obey.
Before little argument, some people are very quick to say : Olorun gbo , Orun gbo, or I swear. etc…
My dear brethren, stop constructing the road that leads to hell fire for yourself.
Repent now! I just told you…
Say : Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sin. Forgive me. (confess your sin) I accept you today as my Lord and Saviour, come into my life and remain there forever. Amen.
