Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State warned that civil servants could face adverse consequences if the opposition wins the upcoming governorship election.
Speaking at a thank-you meeting with public servants in Benin on Tuesday, Obaseki emphasized that mistakes made under a new administration could directly impact them first.
He highlighted the progress in technology-driven improvements within the state’s civil service and urged voters to ensure that this progress continues.
Obaseki cautioned against electing inexperienced leaders who might not have the necessary skills or ideas, describing such a scenario as potentially disastrous for the state.
Obaseki endorsed PDP governorship candidate Asue Ighodalo as a competent leader who would build on his achievements.
He stressed the importance of making an informed choice on election day, warning that choosing leaders who lack proper qualifications would pose a significant risk to the state’s future.
In response, Asue Ighodalo praised Obaseki for his reforms, particularly in the civil service, and pledged to continue his work if elected. He urged the public to turn out in large numbers to vote and protect their votes.
Anthony Okungbowa, the State Head of Service, expressed gratitude for Obaseki’s reforms and prayed for his continued success.
