Chelsea consider Guirassy as backup plan to Osimhen in summer transfer window

Chelsea are reportedly turning their attention to Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy as a potential reinforcement ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Premier League side have maintained interest in Napoli forward Victor Osimhen for some time, but his hefty release clause has proven to be a significant obstacle.

With the window fast approaching, the Blues are believed to be exploring more cost-effective alternatives, with Guirassy emerging as a strong candidate should their pursuit of Osimhen fall through.

Spanish outlet Fichajes claims that Chelsea are preparing a €75 million bid for the Guinean international, who has enjoyed a prolific campaign with Dortmund.

Guirassy has scored 28 goals and provided five assists in 41 appearances across all competitions, and currently leads the UEFA Champions League scoring chart, despite Dortmund’s struggles this season.

Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has also had an impressive season, registering 29 goals and six assists in 34 matches.

His tally of 21 league goals has been crucial in Galatasaray’s push for a record-extending 25th Turkish Super Lig title.

Talks about Osimhen’s future are ongoing, with Napoli reportedly open to letting him go for a fee close to what Chelsea are willing to offer for Guirassy.

Despite strong interest from Galatasaray and other suitors, Osimhen’s future in Turkey remains unclear.

Reports from AFRIPOST suggest that the 26-year-old striker has already reached a verbal agreement to join Manchester United this summer, though no official announcement has been made.
