- DSS screened Ifeoluwa Oyedele, Executive Director of NDPHC
- As Daura community prefers reappointment of ex-minister, prof Omoyele Daramola
- Akeredolu moves to alter game
One of the staffs of president Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Rock who does not want his name mentioned, has told Starnews Online Newspaper, upon inquiry, that the president is currently in state of dilemma over the choice of ministerial nominee for Ondo State.
Starnews learnt that President Buhari is planning to appoint those very known to him as ministers, preferably most of his loyalists who were members of his former political party, the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
According to the source, Buhari preferred the Executive Director, Engineering and Technical Services, Niger Delta Power Holding Company ( NDPHC), Engr Ifeoluwa Oyedele, as nominee for Ondo State. The source further hinted that the president has sent the name of Oyedele to the Department of State Security Services (DSS) and his name already screened and submitted by the security agency.
“But the president is under intense pressure from the traditional ruler of Daura and some community chiefs who are reportedly pushing for the reappointment of the former minister of state, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Professor Claudius Daramola,” the source told Starnews.
Asked why Daramola is being recommended for reappointment by Buhari’s kinsmen, the source said: “ He did very well for Daura community in the areas of infrastructures most especially on tarring and rehabilitation of roads”.
However, Investigation by Starnews revealed that governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State is not leaving any stone unturned to ensure he alters the game for his loyalist to emerge as choice of minister for Ondo State to avoid clash of interest ahead of his reelection plan in year 2020.
Akeredolu who recently settled his rift and found new love with the National Leader of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is allegedly not comfortable with the choice of Oyedele who was accused of nurturing political ambition to run for the Governorship election of the state under the ruling APC in 2020 against his interest.
The governor was not also interested in Daramola, who according to the source, is seen as too weak for the position and not sharing the same political ideology with the governor.
In a couple of weeks, the coast will cear as Buhari is under pressure by well meaning Nigerians to send the list of his ministerial nominees to the National Assembly for clearance.
