Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has ordered the immediate suspension of all political appointees and government officials in the state.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the Chief of Staff to the Administrator confirmed that this action was taken under the directive of President Bola Tinubu.
The suspension affects key government figures, including the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff, commissioners, board members, heads of agencies, and officials of commissions and parastatals. Also included are Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and Senior Special Assistants.
All suspended officials have been directed to hand over their responsibilities to Permanent Secretaries in their respective ministries, departments, and agencies. In cases where a Permanent Secretary is unavailable, the most senior Director or Head of Administration will assume leadership.
More updates will follow as the situation unfolds.
