BREAKING: PDP begins NEC meeting in Abuja as party members express reservations

The National Executive Committee meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party has started in Abuja.

Members of the PDP NEC, which is the second highest decision-making body of the party, are expected to take a final position on the recommendations of the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi-led Zoning Committee, which recommended that the next national chairman of the party should come from the north.

Some party members have expressed reservations about the recommendation and its implications for the presidential ambition of some northerners.

In a pre-event briefing, the chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Walid Jibrin, addressed a Press conference.

He appealed to party leaders to put national interest and the party’s survival ahead of personal interests as they meet to take a decision on the zoning of party offices.
