Breaking: Millions Lost as Flood Hits Ondo

A devastating flood in Ondo West Local Government Area on Friday destroyed property worth millions of naira following a heavy downpour.

The rain, which began around 3 p.m., wreaked havoc across several streets, including Ita-Nla Road, Oke-Odunwo, Odojomu, Oke-Idera, and Iluyemi.

Sources revealed that the Ita-Nla area suffered the most damage, with numerous vehicles, motorcycles, shops, and valuables submerged. Thankfully, no lives were lost in the incident.

Local residents attribute the flooding to blocked drainage channels, which hindered the free flow of water during the torrential rain.

A concerned resident lamented, “The rain caused chaos in the community; many properties were submerged. Almost all the roads are impassable, and urgent government intervention is needed.”

He added, “The residents, particularly shop owners, faced severe losses due to the flood. We are grateful that no one was swept away or lost their life.”
