A Kinsman of Kingsley Kuku from Arogbo Community in Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State who spoke with Starnews Nigeria in a telephone interview on Sunday has confirmed the story by Sahara Reporters that the former Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs was arrested in Amsterdam over alleged child pornography complaints.
Starnews Nigeria reports that the story of Kingsley Kuku’s arrest by the online Medium (Sahara Reporters) sparked controversies on Sunday afternoon on social media as an unverified and unsigned counter-press release credited to Kuku was being circulated to deny the media report by his fans and some online blogging sites.
But to the contrary, Kuku’s kinsman and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Arogbo community who pleaded anonymity however said that the story of Kuku’s arrest is true, Starnews Nigeria can report.
Kuku’s Kinsman told Starnews Nigeria that Lawyers are on top of the situation to secure his release, adding, however, that Kuku is innocent until proven guilty of the allegation by the court.
According to him, “it happened on Wednesday. It was a case bothering on the allegations of child pornography complaints in 2018. But there is no cause for alarm because it is a mere allegation and his lawyers are already available to file a defence for the court case. We will address the press as soon as the Lawyers are through with their legal work. Hopefully tomorrow, you will get full details”, he said.
In consonance with the above, a close associate of Kuku from Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State also told Starnews Nigeria in a telephone interview that the former Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme has not been picking his phone calls which according to him is very unusual.
On inquiry, he also said Kuku can’t authorise any press statement because no one has been able to speak with him on phone.
He said: “It is unusual for my friend (Kuku) not to pick my phone call. If he is busy, he will call me back. But he hasn’t been picking my calls and he didn’t return the phone calls till now. Forget those press statements credited to him. It’s fake. A man who can’t pick phone calls cannot grant a press interview, let alone authorising a statement, he added.
