According to the PUNCH, the incident occurred in the LGA’s Heipang hamlet in the early hours of Thursday.

Julius Pam, a heartbroken dad in the community, confirmed the attack to The PUNCH in Jos on Thursday.

“Good morning, sir,” Pam said. Unfortunately, an incident occurred early this morning in the Heipang neighborhood. 17 individuals were slain, including my brother, his wife, and their children.”

Alabo Alfred, the spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, could not be reached for comment, but sources at the command headquarters claimed security operatives had been dispatched to the town.

Meanwhile, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has inaugurated a Security and Information Centre aimed at enabling public access to security-related information and communicating it to relevant authorities for fast action.

The governor stated in a statement signed by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, that the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency established the center to bridge the communication gap between the general public and the government.

He stated that the center will use simple technology to build a toll-free hotline, 080 0000 5555, that will allow citizens to exchange information without paying expenses.

Governor Mutfwang stated that the center is already open and that individuals may call. He emphasized that the state government will pay for all incoming calls on people’s behalf.

The governor added that the effort will allow the government to quickly receive early warning signs and respond, as well as seek feedback on state development issues.

He encouraged residents to report security problems in their areas with confidence, knowing that all information will be treated with the strictest confidentially.

“The center operates around the clock and is geared toward efficient and effective service delivery, allowing citizens to report any issues relevant to the state,” the statement continued.
