BREAKING: EFCC operatives storm Ondo nightclub, arrest groom-to-be

In an early morning operation on Saturday, operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) raided several lounges and event venues in the Alagbaka area of Akure, Ondo State’s capital.

Over 50 individuals suspected of internet fraud, commonly referred to as yahoo boys, were reportedly arrested during the sweep.

However, one of those apprehended was a groom-to-be, enjoying his Bachelor’s eve with friends at one of the clubs targeted by the EFCC.

The raid, marked by the arrival of EFCC personnel in multiple vehicles around 1 am, included instances of gunfire.

Also, the authorities confiscated a significant number of vehicles, laptops, high-end smartphones, and various other items during the operation.

A source said, “They were entering the nightclubs and lounges, tear-gassing people, beating them up and arresting them. They don’t care who are, even two soldiers were injured as they shot tear gas canisters inside one of the clubs.

“They also went away with a groom and his friends at a club, he was there for his bash eve, so sad as they profiled everyone as Internet fraudster.”
