*As Akeredolu’s Aides tender resignation letters
There are strong indications that the Ondo State Executive Council, the newly inaugurated committees for the Local Council Development Areas, and the state executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC), may be dissolved.
This comes as the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu succumbed to death at wee hours of today in Germany.
In a latest development, Akeredolu’s Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been sworn-in as the Executive Governor of the State and he is expected to appoint new Chief of Staff and other aides that will steer governance in the state.
Meanwhile, a source confidently revealed to Starnews NG that Aiyedatiwa might dissolve the state executive council, the party structure at the state level and the newly inaugurated LCDAs’ committees in the state.
The top government source who craved anonymity hinted at Starnews NG that the decision to dissolve the state cabinet became necessary because of the serial betrayals, political gambles, and unrestrained ambitions that characterised the council and almost tore the state apart.
The source added that “Aiyedatiwa will dissolve the cabinet, APC state Excos, and the LCDAs committees because people in those offices are not in anyway loyal to him.
“While Aiyedatiwa was Acting as the Governor, Akeredolu’s wife and her son, with some cabals appointed Chairmen and members of the LCDAs and Caretakers for the 18 LGAs in the state.
“How do you expect him to work with people appointed by those who troubled him. Infact, when the LCDAs committee and Caretakers were announced, Aiyedatiwa was unaware of the whole process”, the source told Starnews NG’s correspondent on Wednesday.
In another development similar to the aforestated, the Special Adviser to late Governor Akeredolu on Union Matters, Mr. Dare Aragbaiye has resigned his appointment.
Aragbaiye penned his resignation in a letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, on Wednesday.
Aragbaiye who is a close ally of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was the Head of Service in the State before he became an Aide to the Governor.
Similarly, Starnews NG reports that Akeredolu’s Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde has also resigned his appointment.
Richard in a letter he wrote on Wednesday said: “It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that I tender my resignation as the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, effective from today, Wednesday 27, 2023.
“My decision to resign from office is hinged on the unfortunate and untimely death of our leader, principal, and father figure, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON.
“Throughout my tenure as the Chief Press Secretary, I was fortunate to witness firsthand exceptional qualities of Governor Akeredolu. His courage, truthfulness, and honesty were unrivaled, and they served as constant source of inspiration for me.
“His leadership and dedication to the development of our state ignited within me a drive and passion to serve and contribute my quota to the progress of our beloved state.
“Governor Akeredolu was not only an administrator but also a rare gem whose personality exuded honour and courage. It was a privilege to have served under his administration and to have been associated with such an exceptional individual. His demise has left a deep void in our hearts, and we mourn the loss of our hero and benefactor.
“In light of this tragedy, I believe it is essential for everyone to honour and respect Governor Akeredolu’s legacy and memory. As we navigate through this difficult period, I beseech all to support one another and draw strength from the unity that our late governor exemplified.
“I would like to express my gratitude to everyone including Journalists, politicians and other stakeholders for the support, guidance, and opportunities I received during my time as Chief Press Secretary. It has been an invaluable experience working alongside such dedicated professionals, and I will cherish the memories and lessons from this role.
“I understand the challenges that lie ahead for our state, and I have faith in the resilience of our people to overcome them. Moving forward, I will continue to contribute to the development of our society in any way I can, carrying with me the principles and values instilled in me by my mentor, principal and father, Governor Akeredolu”
