BREAKING: Akeredolu Expected to Resume Office

MULTIPLE sources in Ondo State, yesterday, dismissed the rumoured death of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, saying, he is bound to return to Nigeria this week on or before Friday from his medical trip to Germany.

The reaction came on the heels of reports that the governor had passed on in Germany on Sunday, which triggered reactions and counter reactions from stakeholders within and outside the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Former National Vice Chairman of APC Southwest zone, Pastor Bankole Oluwajana, who is from Ondo State and a close friend of Akeredolu told The Guardian Newspapers, said, “As at two hours ago when I discussed with necessary stakeholders, the expectation was that Governor Akeredolu would return to Nigeria this week. In fact preparation was made to receive him back in Ondo last week but it was postponed.

Hopefully he will return this week.”
Other sources also confirmed that Akeredolu is expected to resume his official duties in the state in the coming days.

According to a top source within the state government, plans have already begun among the governor’s close aides to welcome him.

Akeredolu has been away from the state for the past two months, undergoing medical treatment abroad.

The source stated that ‘”He is expected back in the state any moment from now. Plans are already underway to that effect.
“The recent false news that was spreading about the governor was the handwork of those who had become jealous of his coming.

“His health has significantly improved, prompting his imminent return to the state, and he is in high spirits and eager to resume his duties.”

Meanwhile, political analysts believe that Akeredolu’s comeback will also have significant implications for the political landscape of the state.

As the leader of the ruling party in the state, his return is expected to rally party members and supporters, bolstering their confidence and providing a clear direction for the party’s future ahead of the 2024 governorship election.
