BREAKING: Akeredolu announces medical vacation, transmits power to Deputy

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has announced a 21-day medical leave and similarly bowed to pressure and public outcry by transmitting power to his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

This was confirmed by the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Olamide Oladiji through a statement he released on Tuesday.

Akeredolu in a letter sent to the State  Assembly and addressed to Speaker Oladiji said he had proceeded on medical leave abroad starting from the 7th of June, 2023 to the 6th of July, 2023 due to the Public Holidays on June 12 (Democracy Day) and Eid el Kabir(28th and 29th, June, 2023).

The Speaker said in the statement that the Governor has directed Aiyedatiwa, his deputy, to take over the affairs of the state as acting Governor pending his resumption to work.

“The Speaker had earlier described the Governor as a lover of peace and an apostle of the rule of law.

“He later wished him a speedy recovery and a joyful vacation,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, Starnews Nigeria reported the public outcry by the citizens and the opposition parties in Ondo State over the failure of Akeredolu to hand over power to his deputy following his indisposition amid allegations of incapacitation.
