Borno Deputy Governor Survives Scare as Plane Makes Emergency Landing

The Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Kadafur, and over 100 passengers narrowly avoided disaster when their Max Air flight made an emergency landing at Maiduguri International Airport.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, shortly after takeoff on a flight headed to Abuja.

A bird strike reportedly caused one of the engines to catch fire about 10 minutes into the journey.

Thanks to the quick response of the pilot and crew, the aircraft safely returned to Maiduguri Airport.

Following the incident, the airline arranged an alternative plane for passengers who wished to proceed with their journey, while others chose to collect their belongings and end their trip.
