A borehole driller, Moses Asakomhe, 45, was on Thursday, docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, over alleged N1,385,950 fraud.
Asakomhe, whose residential address was not provided, was charged with obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Elijah Tellana, told the court that Asakomhe, allegedly committed the offence between Oct. 24 and Nov. 3, 2023 at Apata area, Ibadan.
Tellana alleged that the defendant, fraudulently obtained the money from one Bolanle Orimolade, uder the pretence of digging a borehole in her uncompleted building, but failed to do so.
He also alleged that the defendant, in August 2022, at Felele area, Ibadan, stole one sub-massive pumping machine, valued N90,000, and cash of N20, 000, from one Femi Joseph.
He said the offences contravened Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Senior Magistrate, Mrs M. Olagbenro, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N400, 000 with one reliable surety in like sum.
She later adjourned the case till Jan.25 for hearing.
