Chief Bode George, a seasoned leader in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has called for an immediate end to the ongoing discord within the party, particularly the feud between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
According to Politics Nigeria, George, expressing his frustration over the prolonged conflict, referred to it as “nonsense” and urged both Atiku and Wike to resolve their differences for the greater good of the party. He emphasized that the survival of the PDP hinges on unity, warning that continued infighting could severely damage the party’s credibility and its prospects in future elections.
A former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, George made it clear that personal disputes should not overshadow the collective interests of the party. He reminded party members of the PDP’s ability to navigate difficult times in the past and urged them to follow the example of the party’s founders.
“We need to take action now. Both Atiku and Wike need to come together and end this conflict,” George stated in an interview with Daily Independent.
The tension between Atiku and Wike has been a point of concern for the PDP, especially following the 2023 presidential election.
