Bello Turji’s Threats Spark Fears in Zamfara After Arrest of Key Ally

By Our Correspondent

Bello Turji, a well-known bandit leader in Zamfara State, has vowed retaliation after the Nigerian Army arrested his close associate, Bako Wurgi, also called Baka NaGarba.

Wurgi, a critical figure in Turji’s operations, was involved in ransom negotiations and weapon deals.

The arrest took place after troops acted on intelligence, finding Wurgi receiving treatment for injuries in a hospital in Shinkafi.

His activities are tied to several violent crimes, including the killing of the Emir of Gobir, Alhaji Isa Mohammad Bawa, after a failed ransom deal.

Reports reveal Turji has started reaching out to local leaders, threatening attacks on their communities if Wurgi is not released.

He reportedly plans to use his resources, including money and livestock, to pressure authorities into freeing his ally.
