Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has refuted claims that he impregnated Big Brother Naija star, Nengi.
On Monday, social media was flooded with reports that Nengi had given birth to the governor’s child.
The speculation also alleged that Diri, who is said to have multiple wives, was involved in a secret relationship with her.
In response, Nengi denied the claims on X, insisting she was not pregnant for any governor. Despite her statement, the rumors continued to spread.
The governor’s Director-General of New Media, Dr. Samuel Kolawole Oredipe, dismissed the reports, stating that there was no personal connection between Nengi and Diri.
He described the rumours as an attempt by political opponents to divert attention from the governor’s fifth-anniversary celebrations.
Oredipe also criticized the spread of false information on social media, calling it a deliberate effort to mislead the public.
