Early Saturday morning, an unknown number of robbers killed DJ Bash during a robbery at Volcano, a nightclub in Gwarimpa Estate, Abuja.
FCT police spokesperson Josephine Adeh stated that the police were not immediately informed of the incident, but that investigations are now underway to uncover the details of the crime.
While speaking, Ms. Adeh explained that the robbery, which occurred around 2:00 a.m., was only reported to the police at approximately 5:30 a.m., despite the nightclub’s close proximity to a police station.
Ms. Adeh expressed serious concerns about Volcano nightclub’s failure to promptly report the crime, noting that an outsider was the one who eventually alerted the police.
“The police were not notified in time, but an investigation has commenced,” Ms. Adeh wrote on X, Saturday evening.
She assured residents that security officers are monitoring the situation and urged them to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
“We advise residents to always be aware of their surroundings. If you notice any suspicious activity, call the police immediately, and we will respond swiftly,” the FCT police spokesperson said.
Ms. Adeh encouraged citizens to use the police emergency lines, emphasizing that the same effort used to post about crimes on social media should be directed towards calling the hotlines.
She highlighted that the emergency lines are not exclusive to the police and that other security agencies can also respond quickly to distress calls.
