Armed bandits launched a violent attack on Shadawa community in Katsina State on Wednesday night, leaving four people injured, abducting several residents, and torching a trailer loaded with tomatoes en route to Lagos.
According to Afripost, A local source, Bakatsine, shared details of the attack on his Twitter page, describing the chaos that unfolded.
“The gunmen stormed the community in large numbers, firing indiscriminately and spreading fear among residents,” he wrote.
“They injured at least four people, kidnapped many, and even burned down a trailer filled with tomatoes.”
Eyewitnesses recounted the terrifying ordeal, noting that the attackers overpowered local security forces before escaping with their hostages.
As of now, authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. However, concerned residents are calling on the government to strengthen security measures in the area.
“We can’t continue living in fear,” a resident lamented. “The security agencies must do more to protect us before the situation worsens.”
The attack highlights the ongoing insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest, where banditry remains a major threat to lives and economic activities.
