Bandits Ambush Convoy of Kaduna Governor’s Aide, Injure Driver, Officer

Hon. Rachael Averik, the Special Assistant on Political Affairs to the Kaduna State Governor, survived an ambush by suspected bandits in Southern Kaduna.

According to Politics Nigeria, the attack occurred along the Tsauni Majidadi-Gani road in Sanga Local Government Area as Averik was returning to Gwantu after attending a condolence visit and commissioning a hospital built by Alhaji Muhammad Umar Numbu in Arak Chiefdom.

The bandits opened fire on her convoy, triggering a fierce gunfight between her security detail and the attackers. During the exchange, her driver and a police officer were injured by gunfire.

The Kaduna State Government has condemned the attack, calling it a cowardly act, and pledged to intensify efforts to improve security in the region. An investigation into the incident is already underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Hon. Averik, while expressing gratitude for surviving the ambush, sympathized with the injured members of her team and wished them a swift recovery.
