Assault: Okitipupa PDP Aspirants Call For Discipline Among Party Members

Some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State and National Assembly Aspirants from Okitipupa local government of Ondo State, have reacted to the assault unleashed on Mr. Adewo Olorunsola Dangote, PDP party chairman of Okitipupa local government, by some party executives from the local government alleged to be sponsored by one of the house of representative aspirants, Mr Ekengboju Gboluga.

Recall that Starnews reported yesterday that the Okitipupa local government PDP chairman was assaulted by some group of party members alleged to be sponsored by Mr Ekengboju, an aspirant of the party.

Reacting to the ugly incident, Engr. Niyi Ogunwa Oboli (FCA), house of representative aspirant said the party must revert to its constitutional guide and act accordingly.

He said:

“Its a pity! The Party should revert to its constitutional guide and act accordingly. It is well.”

While responding, Member house of representative for Okitipupa -Irele Federal constituency, hon. Mike Omogbehin described the incident as sign of panic in the face of failure.

In a short message to our correspondent, Omogbehin wrote:

“It’s normal for people to panic and misbehave in the face of failure. I know we signed an undertaking to be of good conduct before, during and after the primary election. So, we should await the the party decision on the matter.”

In his own response, Barr Bimpe Olatemiju wrote:

“My brother I want to be careful on this issue. But as a lawyer I want to say that an injustice to one is an injustice to all and there must be party discipline against repeat of this gross indiscipline in our party.This a new PDP.”

While reacting, Hon Solomon Bitire said the state executives of the party should handle the matter and take discipline as priority.

He wrote: “The state Exco of the party should do the needful as our party strongly believed that discipline should be our priority.”

Meanwhile, in a chat with starnews earlier today, the victim, PDP party chairman for Okitipupa local government, Adewo, explained to starnews how Mr Ekengboju Gboluga submitted a petition against him to the state secreatriat over frivolous allegation that he is working for a particular aspirant.

He said Gboluga visited the state party secretariat in Akure in company of some ward chairmen on monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday over allegation of manipulation of delegate lists, a case he claimed was already before Ayo Fadaka led committee. But said he was dissapointed when his car was blocked at the party secretariat and was assaulted by some party executives and members who came to the secretariat with Gboluga.

The chairman however said he is waiting for the decision of the party state executive on the matter before he will take further action.

Meanwhile, the state chairman of PDP in Ondo State, Engr Clement Faboyede is yet to speak on the matter following some questionaires sent to his phone. But the secretary of the party in Ondo State, Chief Oye Ibine has said that those erring members will get their suspension letter today when he spoke to starnews on phone.
