The Nigerian Army has apprehended Fidelis Adamu, suspected leader of the Jungle Boys cult group, along with a cattle rustler identified as Nashak Wilson in Plateau State.
According to a statement by Samson Nantip Zhakom, spokesperson for Operation SAFE HAVEN, troops acted on intelligence reports suggesting that the Jungle Boys were plotting attacks on political figures and community leaders in response to a crackdown on illegal mining.
Adamu was arrested on March 20, 2025, in the Angwan Gainyeh area of Sakon-Gyel, located in Jos South LGA.
In a separate operation, troops from Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A engaged in a gunfight with armed criminals near the Youth Centre in Sabon Layi.
During the encounter, 29-year-old Nashak Wilson was taken into custody with an AK-47 rifle loaded with two rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.
Further investigations led to the discovery of 30 stolen cows, which were later returned to their owner. The military assured the public of its ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities and ensure safety in the region.
