The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has announced the immediate lifting of the suspension of its National Chairman, Mr. Mamman Mike Osuman (SAN). The decision was confirmed on Wednesday, December 4, in a statement issued by the forum’s Secretary-General, Malam Murtala Aliyu.
According to the statement, the ACF Unity, Peace, and Reconciliation Committee, led by Dr. Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, CFR, Ajiyan Katagum, intervened to resolve the leadership dispute that had recently shaken the forum. The committee engaged major stakeholders, including the Chairmen of the Board of Trustees and the National Executive Council, in discussions to address the crisis.
Part of the statement read:
“The ACF Unity, Peace, and Reconciliation Committee, under the leadership of Dr. Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, CFR, Ajiyan Katagum, intervened in the leadership crisis in the ACF. The committee invited key stakeholders, including the Chairmen of the Board of Trustees and the National Executive Council, for a family discussion on the matter.
“Following the discussions, the issue has been resolved amicably in the interest of the people of Arewa, and the suspension is hereby lifted.”
Osuman’s suspension had stemmed from allegations that he made unauthorized remarks suggesting the North would support a northern presidential candidate in 2027, allegedly sidelining President Bola Tinubu.
With this resolution, the ACF aims to move forward in unity and focus on its mission of promoting the interests of the Arewa people.
