Appeal Court Affirms Sanwo-Olu’s Victory as Lagos Governor

The Court of Appeal in Lagos has affirmed Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s position as the re-elected governor of Lagos State.

The judges dismissed the petition brought forth by the Labour Party (LP) ’s gubernatorial candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Abdulazeez Olajide Adediran, commonly known as Jandor.

One of the central points of contention, Sanwo-Olu’s O’Level result, was meticulously addressed by the court, which ultimately found no evidence to support forgery claims.

The judges unequivocally declared to the LP and PDP, “There was no evidence that the document was forged,” underscoring that their appeals lacked merit.

During the November 7 appeal hearing, presided over by the Court of Appeal panel led by Yargata Nimpar, judgement was reserved following comprehensive arguments from all parties involved.

In a swift session today, the three-man panel made clear, before presenting their ruling, that their decision was unanimous.

Commencing proceedings promptly at 3:06 pm, the judges have now concluded the case, cementing Sanwo-Olu’s victory as the governor of Lagos State.

This verdict marks a significant milestone in the legal battle surrounding the Lagos State governorship election, solidifying Sanwo-Olu’s mandate.
