APC’s Musa Mustapha Wins Yobe East Senate Seat

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Musa Mustapha, has won the Yobe East Senatorial bye-election, according to the results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Professor Ibrahim Ahmed Jajere, INEC’s Returning Officer, announced the results on Sunday in Damaturu, Yobe State.

Mustapha secured a convincing victory, garnering a total of 68,778 votes, leaving his closest challenger, Aji Kolomi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), trailing far behind with 18,878 votes.

“Having secured the highest number of votes cast and fulfilling all legal requirements, Honorable Musa Mustapha of the All Progressives Congress is hereby declared the winner of the Yobe East Bye-Election,” declared Professor Jajere.

The former Yobe State Commissioner for Transport and Energy secured the APC nomination in August 2023, following the appointment of the previous senator, Ibrahim Gaidam, as Minister of Police Affairs.
