The All Progressives Congress, APC, has rejected claims by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who accused the party of being responsible for the ongoing leadership crisis within the People’s Democratic Party, PDP,.
In a statement made on Friday in Abuja, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka asserted that the issues within the PDP are self-inflicted and rooted in a long history of leadership turmoil that predates the formation of the APC.
Morka pointed to the troubled tenures of former PDP national chairmen—including Barnabas Gemade, Audu Ogbeh, Vincent Ogbulafor, Okwesilieze Nwodo, Bamanga Tukur, Ali Modu Sheriff, Ahmed Makarfi, Uche Secondus, and Iyorcha Ayu—as evidence of the party’s internal chaos.
He attributed the current crisis to the PDP’s failure to follow its constitution regarding zoning and power-sharing between the North and South. “The PDP chose to concentrate both positions in one zone, plunging itself deeper into crisis,” Morka said.
He urged Governor Mohammed and other PDP leaders to reflect internally and find solutions, rather than placing blame on the APC.
He stated, “Our great party is too busy doing the job entrusted to it by the Nigerian electorate and does not have a moment to spare in involvement in PDP’s internal commotion.”
