APC Chieftain Describes Calls for Aiyedatiwa’s Resignation as Baseless

A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Oluwaseun Ajongbolo, has dismissed demands for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s resignation, describing them as baseless and politically motivated.

Ajongbolo criticized those pushing the narrative, stating that blaming the governor for recent security incidents in the state does not address the root causes of the challenges.

Speaking in an interview, he extended condolences to the families of victims of the reported attacks by suspected herdsmen, emphasizing that security issues should not be politicized.

“I saw reports suggesting that Governor Aiyedatiwa should step down because of the recent killings in Akure. This is nothing but an attempt to gain attention and smear his administration,” he said.

He further argued that security is a collective responsibility and that the governor has made substantial efforts to enhance safety across the state. According to him, Aiyedatiwa’s administration has strengthened security operations, equipped law enforcement agencies, and engaged key stakeholders to address threats.

“Instead of unfairly criticizing him, we should acknowledge his efforts and work together to improve security. Resignation is not the answer. The governor has recorded remarkable achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, and education. His leadership is driving progress, and he deserves support, not baseless attacks,” Ajongbolo stated.

He also pointed out that insecurity is a nationwide challenge that requires a united approach, adding that it is unjust to hold Aiyedatiwa solely responsible for events beyond his direct control.

“Rather than engaging in negative politicking, stakeholders should join hands with the government in finding lasting solutions to security threats. True leadership means facing challenges head-on, and that is exactly what the governor is doing,” he added.

Ajongbolo reassured the affected families that the government remains committed to ensuring justice for the victims and strengthening security to prevent future occurrences.
