Angry Mob Sets Ablaze Suspected Thief

An alleged thief has been reportedly beaten and set ablaze by an irate mob for allegedly stealing building materials at a new construction site in Ekiugbo community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state, Vanguard News reports.

According to the report, the yet- to- be identified deceased person met his untimely death after he was caught red handed stealing ‘Alumaco materials’ at new construction site (Hotel building) in the community.

According to an anonymous source, the suspect has been involve in stealing and pick pocketing in the area, and on that faithful day he was caught by the community vigilantes before he was set ablaze by irate mobs, Vanguard News reports.

The source said, ” The deceased person was set ablaze at Iwhrenene junction after all attempt to stop him from stealing proves abortive” .

” Anytime the man was caught stealing, he will always be set free, some kind- hearted individuals bought a tricycle for him in order to help him earn a good living, he abandoned the tricycle and began a bricklaying job” .

” He later left the bricklaying job and started stealing again until he was caught stealing the building materials at a hotel building site which led to him being set ablaze by an irate mobs from the community.”

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) DSP Bright Edafe did not pick his calls or responded to messages sent to him at the time of writing this report, same with the Community vigilante Chairman Mr Emmanuel Ovwigho.
