On Thursday, the Cathedral Church of St. Andrew in Imola, Owo, organized a Christian Wake to honor the late Governor Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, who served as the Chancellor of the Church until his passing.
During the event, Most Rev. Simon Borokini, the Bishop of Akure Anglican Diocese and Archbishop of Ondo Ecclesiastical Province, delivered an exhortation in which he lauded Governor Akeredolu’s remarkable accomplishments in governance.
He emphasized the late governor’s steadfast dedication to serving the people, evident until his final moments
Rev. Simon Borokini who spoke on “A Life of Purpose” said fulfilling God’s wish is tantamount to fulfilling a purpose.
The Cleric reiterated that the Late Akeredolu lived a fulfilled life patterned in the will of God.
In their separate tributes, Deputy Chancellor of Owo Anglican Diocese, Sir Oladipo Opeseyi, Justice of the Supreme Court who doubles as the Chancellor of Ibadan Anglican Communion Justice Keji Ogunwumiju, Former Minister of State for Transportation, Ademola Adegoroye and Akeredolu family, described him as a fantastic person.
They also described the deceased as a proud Anglican whose life was filled with impact, an erudite lawyer who is very decisive in all he does, a leader per excellence, dependable, reliable and lovely father.
Among the dignitaries present were the Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, his Deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, Members of the Ondo State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, Top Government Functionaries, Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, Wife of the Former Ekiti State Governor, Mrs Bisi Fayemi among others.
The highlight of the service includes ; prayer for Late Governor Akeredolu’s family, song tributes, testimonies about Late Governor Akeredolu.
