Anambra LG poll: APGA sweeps all 21 chairmanship, councillorship seats

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has emerged victorious in the September 28, 2024, local government elections in Anambra State, winning all chairmanship and councillorship positions across the state’s 21 local government areas.

The results were announced by the Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, ANSIEC, Genevieve Osakwe, at the commission’s office in Awka.

Osakwe declared the elections free and fair, stating that the commission took great care in collating and verifying the results to avoid any errors.

She also noted that none of the opposition parties or their representatives were present at the ANSIEC office during the declaration of the results.

Osakwe praised the people of Anambra State for turning out in large numbers to participate in the election and commended the security agencies for maintaining peace and order throughout the process.

She said: “This is to affirm the result of the chairmanship and councillorship election held on September 28, 2024. The commission carefully collated and analysed the results to ensure that there were no mistakes.

“Election held at all the polling units across Anambra State on September 28, and it was free, fair and credible.”
