Amotekun arrest 30-yr-old woman for possession of fake currency

The Western Nigeria Security Network, known as Amotekun Corps, paraded a 30-year-old woman on Monday for allegedly possessing counterfeit currency notes in Osun State.

Dr. Omoyele Adekunle, the Amotekun field commander in Osun, announced that eight other suspects were also arrested for various offenses.

He stated that operatives acted on intelligence to apprehend the woman at Sabo market in Ilesa while she was attempting to use counterfeit N1,000 notes to purchase food.

During interrogation, the suspect claimed she received the fake currency from a woman in Abuja, who sent it through a dispatch rider. She alleged that she paid N50,000 for the N200,000 in counterfeit notes.

Additionally, Dr. Adekunle reported that other suspects were arrested for offenses including burglary, theft, murder, motorcycle snatching, theft of transformer cables, and attempted kidnapping.

He confirmed that all suspects would be transferred to the police for further investigation and prosecution.

Adekunle urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies. He also called for collaboration among various security agencies to enhance the safety of lives and property in the state.
