Amotekun Apprehends Suspected Arsonist After Blaze in Ondo

A woman suspected of arson has been apprehended by the Ondo State Security Network, known as “Amotekun,” following a fire incident that occurred in Odode-Idanre, Idanre local government area of Ondo State.

The blaze engulfed a shop and an adjacent building situated along Broad Street, opposite Christ School, Idanre, around 10:30 pm on Tuesday.

The shop owner, Mrs. Beatrice Adeuti, reported significant losses, including assorted goods such as herbal concoctions, clothes, and electronic appliances like a refrigerator, deep freezer, electric fans, stabilizer, and herbs.

The damage extended to the roof and wall of the neighboring building, estimating her loss at approximately Three million Naira (#3,000,000.00).

During the incident, Mrs. Julianah Aderibigbe, an elderly woman aged over a hundred years, was rescued from the building attached to the shop as the fire spread.

The Amotekun corps promptly arrested the suspected arsonist, described as a mother of one.

An unnamed officer from the Ondo State Security Network confirmed the arrest, assuring that the suspect would be handed over to the appropriate authorities.

This incident adds to a series of suspicious fire outbreaks in Idanre, where shops have reportedly been set ablaze by unidentified individuals in recent times.
