Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, a Governorship Aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the 2024 governorship election in Ondo State has expressed sadness over the death of the former Chairman of the party in the state, Fatai Adams.
In a press release made available to Starnews NG today 14th February, 2024, Akingboye described the death of the late party chairman as “a monumental loss for the entire PDP in the state and beyond”.
In his statement, “I received with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss the news of the passing of Alhaji Fatai Adams, earlier this morning.
“This is a monumental loss for the entire PDP family in Ondo State and beyond. As chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ondo State chapter, Alhaji Adams provided astute leadership and was instrumental to laying the strong foundations on which our great party continues to stand in Ondo State today.
Describing his relationship with the late Adams, he says “I had a very cordial relationship with Alhaji Adams which transcended our political affiliations. We regularly tapped each other’s wisdom on issues regarding the development of our dear Sunshine State. His death has robbed me of a true friend and wise counsellor at a personal level.
“As we mourn our fallen star, I send my deepest condolences to his family and pray that God grants them the fortitude to bear this huge loss. I also stand with my party at this difficult moment as we come to terms with this unexpected exit of our celebrated chairman.
“Let it be said that Alhaji Adams has only gone ahead to prepare the way for the new and greater PDP victory we foresee in the coming elections in Ondo State. We owe it to his selfless service to ensure that his labor for the party does not go in vain.
“Adieu Alhaji Fatai Adams. A consummate politician and elder statesman extraordinaire departs from our midst,” he concluded.
