Akeredolu’s clamour for Southern Presidency paved way for Tinubu — APC’s Daramola

US Based All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain, Dr. Olumuyiwa Daramola, has reflected on the 2023 general elections, noting that the standpoint of the Late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on Southern Presidency gave President Bola Tinubu an edge over other presidential candidates.

Daramola bared his mind while speaking with our correspondent on telephone on Saturday.

The party Chieftain who eulogised the former Governor, lauded him for lending his voice in support of the establishment the Southwest Security Network code named Amotekun.

Daramola said, “As people across the globe especially within the shores of Nigeria have continued to pay their last respects to the departed former Governor of Ondo State,  Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Odunayo, I, Dr Olumuyiwa Datamola, a staunch party stalwart and former aspirant for Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency in the last general election, hereby join in rending my elegizing tribute to the late Governor who was laid to rest yesterday.

“I eulogize the bravery, doggedness and straightforwardness of the popularly touted “Mr. Talk and Do”.

“To me, Ondo State has lost one of his finest. A decorated legal icon that reached the highest echelon of his profession as the President of Nigerian Bar Association with policies that stand the test of time with their relevance in the present day legal world.”

“His foray into politics isn’t emergently predicted as he’s got the premonition that one day, he’d serve his people in our own sunshine state. No wonder, like Abraham Lincoln, he was consistent and persistent till he got the mandate two times before his passage to the great beyond.”

“I praise the valiant and unshakeable dispositions of Aketi in the creation of the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) codenamed Operation Amotekun (Leopard or Cheetah), a security outfit based in all the six states of the South Western, Nigeria, responsible for curbing insecurity in the region which was founded on 9 January 2020 in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria being the first regional security outfit initiated by a geopolitical zone in Nigeria.

“Much can be said of this great man who defiled the grips of the power that be under Buhari administration to place the Southwestern States on the verge of security rescue mission birthing the Amotekun Corps. Today, State policing became a reality through the unbent stance of our departed Amotekun Generalissimo.”

“Tinubu presidency was possible before the party presidential primary as a result of the unrepentant clamour for a Southern presidency by the late Aketi.

“How else can we describe a man that roared like a Lion in the the political wilderness of Nigeria amputating the Northern hegemonic grip on power telling whoever cared to listen that power must return to the South and the dream came true unassailably but it’s a pity he never live to partake in the government. ”

“As a man of principle, he embraced governance above politics in all his dealings as the executive Governor of Ondo State and very tenacious that he ensured he got things done no matter the obstacles on his way. Aketi did his bits in our dear state and history shall not be unkind to him in generation to come. In fact, he’s a political philosophy worthy of studying by present and up and coming political leaders”

“Indeed, the mother earth shall play host to a fearless, fierce, resilient, untiring and a golden Lion whose remains shall be undecaying in the sand of time.”

“I register my heartfelt condolence to the APC family in Ondo State under the leadership Engineer Ade Adetimehin, the state government under our Executive Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, Owo Kingdom, the family of Akeredolu and the entire Ondo State people across the globe. Indeed, we have lost a voice and forever shall will remember his indelible imprints on the tablets of our hearts”, the statement said.
