A Commissioner representing Ondo Central on the Board of OSOPADEC, Hon. Akinrotoye Olafusi Kehinde has raised an alarm over the diversion of #50 million from the Commission by its Chairman.
In an open letter written to the state Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Starnews Nigeria reports that the Commissioner called the attention of the state government to some fraudulent activities going on within the board of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, (OSOPADEC).
According to the letter, Akinrotoye alleged illegal sponsoring of FOWOSO SUMMIT by OSOPADEC board Chairman, Elder Sam Erejuwa with the sum of Fifty Million Naira (#50,000,000).
“It was confirmed that the just concluded FOWOSO SUMMIT organized by the wife of the Governor of Ondo State, Mrs. Betty Akeredolu was illegally sponsored by the Chairman of OSOPADEC, ELDER SAM EREJUWA with the whopping sum of Fifty Million Naira (#50,000 000).
“This dastard act was carried out on the detriment of the poor people of the Oil Producing Areas who were denied good amenities of life. It’s unfortunate and at the same time worrisome that the money which was supposed to have been used for the development of the State is being stolen by some power mongers in a mischievous way. This is not acceptable and must be investigated thoroughly,” the letter reads in part.
He, therefore, appealed to the deputy Governor to address the matter with urgency.
“I therefore urge you to treat this issue with the urgency it deserves while an appropriate action should be taken to address it,” he added.
