Akeredolu’s Aide Accuses APC Leaders of Diverting Funds Meant for School Feeding Programme

The Special Adviser to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Multilateral and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Bunmi Ademosun, has made a shocking revelation, accusing leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State of diverting funds meant for the Home Grown School Feeding Programme of Federal Government in the State.

The Politico reports that the programme launched in April 2018 in Ondo State by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was designed to provide free meal daily for pupils in primary 1-3 across public schools in the eighteen local government areas but failed for a longer period of time when cooks engaged did not show up at schools.

Ademosun gave this revelation while speaking on Wednesday at an event organized by Sunshine Integrity Movement for the second term ambition of the governor.

She said some APC leaders who took the contract for the school feeding programme failed to provide any meal for the pupils and which allegedly crumbled the exercise in Ondo State.

In the report by the Politico, Ademosun was quoted to have said: ”The Federal government did not give money again in the state for school feeding programme because when we started the program those who got the contracts from the party(APC) did not even cook any food for the children.

” Some, for instance even engaged people after collecting about N150,000 for twenty days  now give N10,000 to those people they hire for the cooking. There is nothing this amount can do.

” The FG brought their monitoring team to the state and we were found wanting in the school feeding programme and we are asked to repay N38 million.

“That is what we are doing now before they will pay another money. They don’t pay into Ondo state government account rather to those individuals and through BVN, they are now getting those money back. We have their names for anybody who might want to say we are not correct.

” These people are returning money they got without working. There is no how people can shortchange the federal government. If anybody does not like me, I don’t care but we have to say the truth.

” Some of these politicians will stay in Akure and get the contract to cook for pupils in Ode-Aye, some will be in Owo and get the contracts for pupils in Akoko. At the end of the day, they will not even leave their base after getting money. These people are returning the money now,” she said.
