As the Ondo State governorship election draws closer, sustainable development takes centre stage, especially in the vital forestry sector. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, is attracting attention with his plans to revitalise this crucial area of the state’s economy.
Chief Bidemi Obayangban, Special Assistant to the Governor on Forestry (South), has recently praised Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to enhancing forestry resources, which reflects a dedication to environmental sustainability and a clear understanding of Ondo State’s economic landscape.
In an interview with Starnews NG, Obayangban highlighted the significant challenges facing the forestry sector, including rampant illegal logging and widespread deforestation. As the November 16 election date approaches, Aiyedatiwa has presented a comprehensive strategy aimed at addressing these urgent issues and restoring the health of the state’s forests.
“Central to Aiyedatiwa’s forestry initiative is the goal of creating jobs and stimulating economic growth,” Obayangban explained. “He envisions transforming Ondo State into a hub for both timber and non-timber forest products, reducing our reliance on oil and agriculture.”
