Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Ondo State acting Governor, has promised to pay the outstanding salaries of former political appointees under the administration’s of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.
Starnews Nigeria reports that Aiyedatiwa made the promise when the forum of 2017 former political appointees (FFPA) under former governor Mimiko paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Friday.
The group was led by its leader, Chief Mrs. Lydia Olafunmiloye to table their demands for payment of their salary arrears, furniture allowances, and severance packages for those qualified.
Starnews Nigeria recalls that ex-Governor Mimiko left the government with seven months unpaid salaries of his former aides. The government of Rotimi Akeredolu has however defrayed the debt by paying four months arrears to the former appointees with three months outstanding left.
Sources at the meeting quoted Aiyedatiwa to have said, “we are going to look into the remaining three months if we can offset it in the December allocation. We will surely do something in the next few weeks to offset the remaining three months”, the acting governor assured the people.
In her remarks, Olafunmiloye thanked the acting governor for granting them audience and for his willingness to put smile on their faces before the new year.
