Aiyedatiwa Launches Statewide Festival of Surgeries for Vulnerable Citizens

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has unveiled a major healthcare initiative aimed at providing free surgical care to hundreds of residents across the state.

This is contained in a statement issued by Oluwafemi Akeredolu on behalf of Ondo State Hospital Management Board (HMB).

The programme, named the Asiwaju–Datiwa Festival of Surgeries, will commence in March 2026 at Oka Akoko, before being rolled out in phases to cover all senatorial districts.

The initiative is being implemented through the Ondo State Hospital Management Board (HMB) and is designed to address urgent surgical needs among citizens who face financial barriers to medical treatment.

According to the HMB, the festival will see the deployment of medical specialists, modern surgical equipment, and support staff across designated public health facilities.

All beneficiaries will receive surgical procedures at no cost, a move expected to ease financial burdens on low-income households and improve health outcomes across the state.

Governor Aiyedatiwa said, “The health and wellbeing of our people remain central to our development agenda. This initiative ensures that no resident is denied life-saving medical care due to financial limitations.”

With the launch in Oka Akoko, the Asiwaju–Datiwa Festival of Surgeries will gradually cover all parts of Ondo State, reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive governance and equitable access to healthcare services.
