The Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his administration’s remarkable commitment to enhancing federal infrastructure within the state. This commendation comes as the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, conducted a second interactive session regarding the crucial 71-kilometre alignment of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project on Thursday.

During the meeting held at the Government House in Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa underscored the vital role that robust infrastructure plays in catalysing economic growth and development. He expressed gratitude for the increased federal presence in Ondo State, citing significant projects such as the ongoing dualisation of the Ore-Ondo-Akure road, the establishment of a federal teaching hospital, and the new aviation school.
“We have not had it so good in recent times with federal projects in our State,” Governor Aiyedatiwa declared. “Permit me to mention but a few: the Akure – Ore Dual Carriageway, the Akure – Ado Ekiti Dual Carriageway, the Lagos – Calabar Coastal Highway, and the Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Akure.”
The Governor emphasised the necessity of completing these pivotal projects, which he believes will stimulate economic activities not only in Ondo State but across the entire South-West region. He further appealed for additional federal support to actualise critical initiatives, including the Ondo Deep Sea Port and measures to mitigate the Ayetoro sea incursion.
In his remarks, Governor Aiyedatiwa assured Minister Umahi of the Ondo State Government’s unwavering commitment to providing an enabling environment for the successful execution of these projects. “We are resolute in our commitment to ensuring that these projects are completed for the benefit of our people. In this regard, I pledge the Ondo State Government’s unflinching support and commitment towards actualising their completion,” he stated.
Minister Umahi, addressing the stakeholders at the meeting, provided an update on the preparations for the execution of the Ondo State alignment in the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project. He commended the state government and its citizens for their support, assuring them that all necessary steps for the project’s execution have been taken.
He also praised Governor Aiyedatiwa for his keen interest in the state’s infrastructural development, promising that all federal road projects in Ondo State would receive expedited attention. Furthermore, Umahi indicated that the federal government would soon shift its focus to the execution of the Aiyetoro shoreline protection project.
This statement was issued today by the Governor’s spokesperson, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, as Ondo State moves forward with these transformative infrastructure projects, signifying a promising future for economic growth and development in the region.
