*Solicits Unbiased Report, Support from Journalists

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State has declared the Aiyedatiwa-led administration incompetent, citing the recent verdict of the Akure High Court scrapping the newly created Local Government Development Authorities (LCDAs) in the state.

Ajayi said Governor Aiyedatiwa failed in his approach to the matter, noting that the people protested for their rights.

The PDP candidate stated this during an interactive session with journalists at the Press Centre in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

In his words, “The verdict is a failure of leadership on the part of Aiyedatiwa. That’s the truth of the matter! For the people of Ese Odo to have protested means they are right. The people chose to be civilized in the protest, and I’m sure they must have written several times to the governor.

“Agreed that Aiyedatiwa was not in charge when the bill was signed, yet he should have called the people to a dialogue. He should have intervened at that time instead of allowing them to take the matter to court.

“I’m not blaming any judge because I’m also a lawyer, and he’s right in his ruling. But honestly, the governor should have called the people, apologized to them, and addressed the injustice. To let the court decide has shown a high level of incompetence,” Ajayi said.

Reeling off his agenda for the press, Ajayi said he would change the trajectory if elected governor of the state on November 16, 2024.

According to him, the PDP is better repositioned and is now a formidable party that will take over power in the state, considering the poor governance run by the APC-led government at both the federal and state levels.

Ajayi solicited the support of the state Union of Journalists, assuring them that his administration would not sideline them in its activities.

He also urged them not to be biased in their media reports in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

Reacting to the dire situation of the state-owned broadcast stations, the former deputy governor said his administration would abandon the existing equipment and purchase modern ones to revive the state broadcasting station.

“We’ll digitalize everywhere, and information will be available for everybody in Ondo State. I can assure you of that,” Ajayi added.

Former Deputy National Chairman, South West PDP, Olorogun Eddy Olafeso, presented the PDP candidate to the press at the meeting.

Among the entourage of Agboola were: State PDP Acting Chairman, Fasegun Tola Alabere, Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, Chairman Elders Committee, Dr. Omotayo Dairo, Former Speaker ODSHA, Rt. Hon Peter Bakita Bello and others.
