Six months after Irele Local Government Chairman, Hon. (Barr.) Olusegun Philip Ajimotokin had stopped the payment of levies by market traders until government presence is felt in the market, the Hon. Chairman and the Market traders today have agreed unanimously to begin the collection of levies from next market.
Recalling, shortly after his swearing-in as Executive Chairman, Hon. Ajimotokin deliberately suspended collection of levies and rates from all market traders in Irele Local Government until government presence is felt in the markets.
After a meeting with the leaders of all trade unions of Ode-lrele market today, the Hon. Chairman called for cooperation, peace and tranquillity between market traders and the revenue collectors as the Local Government would begin the collection of levies from the next market.
Meanwhile, the dispute on Iyaloja tussle has been put to rest following the intervention of the Local Government Chairman and representatives of the traditional institution of Ode-Irele Community pending the installation of a new King.
In the meantime, the Hon Chairman has concluded plans to constitute a neutral interim Coordinating Committee to oversee all market activities.
He appealed to market men and women to cooperate with his government in order to bring about transformational developments in Irele Local Government.
