The Ayo Adebanjo-led faction of Afenifere, a Yoruba sociopolitical group, has appointed lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi as its National Organising Secretary.
The decision was made during the group’s general meeting held on Tuesday at Adebanjo’s residence in Isanya Ogbo, Ogun State.
A communique released after the meeting confirmed the appointment, with the Deputy Leader, Oba Oladipo Olaitan, and National Publicity Secretary, Prince Justice Faloye, signing the document.
This announcement comes a day after Aare Afe Babalola, a prominent lawyer, agreed to drop a defamation lawsuit against Farotimi over claims made in his book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System.
Farotimi, who had earlier faced a court case and bail set at ₦30 million, now assumes a key role in the Afenifere leadership.
