Adamawa Governor Removes Emir Over Corruption Charges

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has indefinitely suspended the Emir of Daware, Alhaji Hassan Ja’afaru, following findings of corruption, poor leadership, and security breaches.

Alhaji Ja’afaru, who had earlier served as the district head of Daware in Fufore Local Government Area, was suspended after an investigation concluded he was guilty of several misconducts, including mismanagement and unlawful seizure of farmlands.

The suspension was announced in a letter dated April 25, 2025, and signed by the Permanent Secretary for Chieftaincy Affairs, Adama Mamman. The letter, which was made public on Sunday, instructed Ja’afaru to hand over all government assets in his possession to the district secretary.

Part of the letter read: “Due to numerous complaints against you involving maladministration, corruption, security breaches, land confiscations, and prolonged absence from your domain, His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, has directed your immediate and indefinite suspension from office.

“You are to hand over all government properties in your custody to the district scribe while further decisions are being awaited.”

Governor Fintiri has maintained that his anti-corruption campaign will reach every institution in the state without favoritism.
