Activist Mahdi Shehu Arrested Again

Mahdi Shehu, a well-known activist and political commentator, was taken into custody on Wednesday morning.

Security personnel, reportedly linked to the Department of State Services (DSS), picked him up at his clinic in Unguwar Dosa, Kaduna, around 11:00 a.m.

The arrest was first reported by Daily Trust, though no official statement has been released by security agencies.

Buhari Mahdi, the activist’s son, revealed that the family has been unable to contact him since his arrest.

He stated that they are uncertain if it was an arrest or an invitation, as details remain unclear.

Mahdi Shehu had previously been arrested in December 2024 for allegedly sharing a false video on social media.

He was granted bail by the Kaduna State High Court on January 9, 2025, with conditions including a ₦3 million bond and two clerics as sureties.

The activist recently shared his gratitude to supporters and reflected on his experiences during his detention, acknowledging the support and prayers he received.
